This package includes 1 bottle of Chers Amis from each vintage: 2017, 2018 and 2019
Less than 200 cases produced each year!
2017 Chers Amis is sourced entirely from a neighboring vineyard with extremely shallow rocky volcanic soils that balance elegant citrus and stone fruit elements with a complex of flinty, saline, floral and savory qualities of the wine. It is elegant, complex and refined. It may well be the most seamless and precise of the trio of Chers Amis in the collection. The first impression is of gunflint and lemon blossom but on the palate the wine unfolds layers of citrus and fresh peach flavors. On the palate it is long, energetic, and even crunchy with minerals, a superb example of Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay. 94 pts Wine Spectator.
2018 Chers Amis is the most interesting of the trio of vintages aromatically, having a greater expression of fresh herbs and mineral aromas, due to the drought conditions that prevailed. This wine is still quite tightly wound, youthful and full of energy, yet time in the glass reveals mouthwatering lemon and cherrystone flavors on the palate, with a long silky finish. Though it is hard to resist already, Chers Amis 2018 has a purity and focus to it that promises to reward more time in the cellar. It is at once an expression of the savory quality unique to the vintage and the mineral and floral qualities that can be gained from the shallow volcanic soils of the Willamette Valley.
2019 Chers Amis has not yet shaken off its youthful mantle of vanilla and ripe peach aromas, but they are quickly succeeded by the more focused mineral, honeysuckle and lemon blossom scents. The wine on the palate is flinty and fresh, with a round palate of lemon custard and a long, vibrant finish. It has the biggest fruit expression of all the Chers Amis, with 60% of the grapes coming from one of the finest sites in the Chehalem Mountains, with gravelly marine sediments. The rest of the Chers Amis 2019 is from our volcanic sources for the cuvée with very shallow soils that create the floral, savory, mineral underpinnings of Chers Amis.
