This distinctive combination of vineyard and unique Pinot Noir selection has resulted in a powerful, rich and nuanced wine that has complex aroma of damson plum, red rose petal and violets, pomegranate and mulberry, black tea, thyme and rosemary. Calera clone can make an intensely colored and flavored wine, but has very low yields, making these fruits the most expensive to farm at Lingua Franca.
Petit Géant is entirely from Calera Clone with 11% traditional whole cluster, fulfilling the original vision for this cuvée for the first time. It has the most complex and richly textured profile of all versions of this selection. There are heady aromas of black cherry, porcini and rose petal and it is intensely flavored on the palate with without being tannic, with mulberry, black raspberry, wet stone, black tea, and persistent saline and floral notes in the long, velvety and seamless finish.
